PROJECTS
Elk Meadow Enduring Connections (Elk) is actively engaged in several projects designed to bring critical, specialized services to communities across Colorado. These initiatives are intentionally structured to reach individuals who are often left without care due to stigma, shame, guilt, financial hardship, or lack of support systems. By integrating trauma-informed counseling, substance use recovery services, peer mentoring, case management, and community-based partnerships, Elk ensures that underserved and justice-involved individuals have access to the resources they need to heal and thrive. Our projects are rooted in the belief that every person deserves dignity, hope, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives, and we work tirelessly to eliminate barriers that prevent access to high-quality behavioral health and recovery support.

Rooted in Recovery (RnR)
The Rooted in Recovery (RnR) Project is Elk's holistic, client-centered response to the opioid crisis and co-occurring behavioral health challenges in southern/southeastern Colorado. The project is designed to build recovery capital—the personal, social, and community resources people need to sustain long-term recovery—while also reducing stigma and strengthening community support systems. By combining evidence-based treatment with peer-led support and wraparound services, Rooted in Recovery empowers individuals to not only overcome addiction but also rebuild stable, meaningful lives as valued members of their communities.

ELK Elevate
Elk's Elevate Project is dedicated to helping men and gender-diverse victims of crime (CCVS) navigate the enduring effects of victimization, re-victimization, and complex trauma on their mental health and overall well-being. Too often, these experiences contribute to justice system involvement, substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health challenges, and family estrangement or conflict. The Elk Elevate Project provides a safe, trauma-informed space where participants can process their experiences as victims of crime, rebuild trust, and learn healthy coping strategies. Elk Elevate addresses both the immediate impacts of trauma and the long-term barriers it creates, helping participants heal, reconnect with their families and communities, and move forward with dignity and hope.

Elk Strong
The Elk Strong Project is a resilience-focused initiative of Elk, designed to strengthen the mental health, recovery, and overall well-being of women and gender-diverse individuals facing significant life challenges. This project provides specialized counseling, peer mentoring, and recovery-oriented supports that help participants build coping skills, healthy emotional expression, and community connections. Elk Strong prioritizes women and gender-diverse individuals navigating trauma, substance use, justice involvement, and economic instability—by ensuring access to holistic, trauma-informed care that addresses the whole person. Through this project, Elk equips participants with the tools and resources to move beyond survival and develop the confidence, stability, and resilience needed to thrive in their families and communities.
